Building Better Communities with Habitat for Humanity

CRC CARES Foundation members partnered with Habitat for Humanity chapter on Friday, April 5, to work on three homes in a Southeast Washington, DC neighborhood.

The 20 volunteers were staffed on different tasks throughout the homes. Projects ranged from installing siding, cutting drywall to size and hanging, reorganizing fencing, and assisting with other various tasks assigned by AmeriCorps members leading the project.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian ministry that builds with people in need regardless of race or religion. Because there are nearly 2 billion people around the world who live in slum housing and more than 100 million homeless, Habitat helps by building or renovating simple, decent houses in partnership with those in need.

Habitat for Humanity has more than 1,400 local affiliates in the United States and more than 70 national organizations around the world. Together, they have helped more than one million families—about five million people—improve their living conditions since 1976.
