Holiday Toy Drive Benefiting Arlington Pediatric Center

In conjunction with the annual CRC Companies and CBG Building Company holiday party hosted at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, the CRC CARES Foundation hosted a toy drive benefiting the Arlington Pediatric Center (APC)All guests were encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy to donate for the children receiving treatment at APC's Medical Home.

APC works in the Arlington, Virginia community to provide a Medical Home that offers consistent, comprehensive, affordable, quality health care to children through 18 years of age, with a family income at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level. APC is located in a convenient, accessible location in South Arlington, and offers those in need a full-time staff of pediatricians, care coordinators, a counselor, and other health care practitioners. Patients are seen by appointment six days per week and physicians are on-call 24/7.

CRC CARES Raises Money for Movember

Each year, CRC CARES Foundation Members raise awareness and money for men's health by participating in Movember. Since 2003, the Movember Foundation has raised more than $650 million and funded over 1,000 programs focusing on prostate cancer, testicular cancer, poor mental health, and physical inactivity.

Our people have taken part in the annual Movember event—occurring in November—by growing out mustaches as a way to be a walking, talking billboard for men's health. This year, 11 participated from the Arlington Office, and three participated from the San Diego Office. A collective $3,000 was raised through their efforts, allowing the Movember Foundation to work year-round with their global men's health partners and academic and clinical institutions to ensure programs accelerate improvements to some of the biggest health issues faced by men.

While Movember is focused on raising awareness and funds for men's health, "Mo Sistas" of the CRC CARES Foundation also got in on the fun by supporting their male counterparts with faux mustaches around the office.

CRC CARES Teams Up with Habitat for Humanity ReStore

For the second time this year, the CRC CARES Foundation teamed up with Habitat for Humanitythis time in their Washington, DC area ReStore.

Our team of 16 volunteers helped ReStore stage their front showroom to look like other furniture retail stores, as a way to help customers easily find the products they need, allowing the organization to increase revenue.

We also assisted with back storage room organization, building much-needed metal shelving units to hold merchandise and rearranging furniture into logical categories.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

ReStores are independently owned and operated by local Habitat for Humanity organizations. Proceeds are used to build homes, community, and hope locally around the world.
