CRC CARES Participates in the 2015 Safe at Home Kickball Tournament
CRC CARES Foundation members kicked for a cause on Saturday at the 10th Annual Bridges to Independence (b2i) Safe at Home Kickball Tournament.
In addition to supporting their mission through this charity kickball tournament, CRC CARES has a longstanding close relationship with b2i as they are our non-profit partner on our 10th Street Flats development project. CRC Companies will be providing a brand-new office space to b2i when the project is completed in 2017.
Our team proudly played six hours of kickball before falling in the semifinals. Congrats to everyone who also participated in the fun day!

Bridges to Independence is Northern Virginia's leading provider of services for homeless women/families and those at risk. They offer a consortium of aid and support for all family members, helping them attain stability and move forward in self-sufficiency. A private, nonprofit organization, b2i has been working with and for homeless families since they were founded in 1985 as the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless. They became Bridges to Independence in 2015 as the new name better reflects how their mission and service spectrum has evolved and expanded over the years.
CRC CARES Participates in the 2015 JDRF Real Estate Games
Yesterday 12 of our people participated in various events in the JDRF Real Estate Games, an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Washington, DC area real estate community to benefit the JDRF Greater Chesapeake and Potomac Chapter.
Our team competed in traditional events like swimming and track and field, but also dominated in more unique events like metal chair racing and a toy pony relay. Held at American University, despite the gray skies, over 1,000 other members of the DC real estate community were also in attendance.
Founded in 1989 by Adam Singer, the JDRF Real Estate Games have raised over $5 million for Type 1 Diabetes Research. JDRF is the leading global organization funding TD1 research. JDRF's goal is to progressively remove the impact of Type 1 Diabetes from people's lives until we achieve a world without it. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure Type 1 Diabetes.
CRC CARES Hosts School Supply Drive for Inter-Mac
Last night, CRC CARES hosted a school supply drive for school children in the Honduran Los Castaños de Choloma neighborhood of Inter-Mac in conjunction with a company happy hour at popular Arlington restaurant, Mussel Bar.
School children at Inter-Mac's Los Castaños de Choloma neighborhood enjoy recess outside.
Over 700 supplies were collected, including calculators, notebooks, writing pads, pocket folders, highlighters, pencils, colored pencils, pens, colored markers, crayons, rulers, pencil sharpeners, pencil-top erasers, scotch tape, and compasses.
CRC CARES matched all donations on a one-for-one basis, and also sent soccer balls, which are popular among the local school children in the Inter-Mac community.
Los Castaños de Choloma is a 3,629-unit, workforce housing community that provides safe and affordable homes to low-income families in Choloma, Honduras. With much of the low-income population living in informal, makeshift housing and often lacking basic services like clean running water, electricity, sanitary plumbing, and even sufficient shelter, Inter-Mac, an affiliate of CRC Companies, sought to bring these basic living essentials to the Choloma workforce community. In partnership with the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), Inter-Mac developed a 27-year financing model that would allow families with incomes of one-to-three times the minimum wage in Honduras to buy a basic, 380-square-foot home.
Typically, individuals working in low-wage jobs in Central America cannot access the mortgage financing from local banks to purchase a basic house. The gated community, constructed by local development partner HOLA Realty, provides a truly safe and secure atmosphere for families, encompassing a new elementary school, central playground, soccer fields, basketball courts, retail, daycare center, onsite police station, church, and bus terminal.
